The Best Of E3 2011

Ryan loved his gaming and works for contract hire company NVC and you can find him on Twitter @ ryanogs

There has been a lot of great announcements at E3 this year from the expected to the unexpected and with this in mind let’s take a look at some of the best things to come from the conference this year.

WiiU

Arguably the biggest announcement from the event and it comes in the form of a brand new console from Nintendo. There are a lot of people asking if it is just an add on to the existing Wii because Nintendo only showed off the controller, this is a load of rubbish and in fact there is a brand new console that will be launching in 2012.

The graphics will be able to compete and perhaps even beat other systems such as the Xbox 360 and PS3 as you would expect from a next generation console. The new controller comes with a screen that allows you to play the games straight from the console if someone wants to watch the television. At the moment it doesn’t look like this can be taken out of the house to play as it has to stream the game from the console itself.

Other than this the screen can serve for extra purposes when playing the games, take a look at the video for more details.

Halo!

The announcement that has gotten me the most excitement are is the news that not only will there be a full HD version with updated graphics of Halo CE coming out this November but that we will be getting more, yes more Chief action.

Halo 4!

Not only was the next title in the franchise announced and confirmed to have the Master Chief and Cortana in but Halo 5 and 6 were also confirmed in a brand new trilogy that has gotten Halo fans more excited than news that the chief hadn’t been killed at the end of Halo 3.

Of course the chief has been in cryo sleep for an unknown period of time, how much time that has passed is unknown, could it be a few weeks, years, decades? A lot of people will argue that it wouldn’t have been much longer than a few months due to the fact Cortana is slowly dying (smart AI last only around 7 years) but recent game Halo Reach actually suggests that Cortana has Forerunner technology inside her which could raise her lifespan by an unknown period of time.

I realise how geeky the above paragraph seems but I have read all of the Halo novels and know a hell of a lot of information that perhaps just the games players might not know.

3DS News

Another great announcement (s) came for 3DS owners such as myself in the form of some great hardcore games. So what do we have to look forward to in the near future?

Mario Kart 3DS

Star Fox 64 3DS

Ocarina Of Time 3DS

Mario Bros 3DS

Luigi’s Mansion 2

Sony

Although Sony didn’t really have a lot to show off this year other than the actual name of their new portable console entitled PSVita however they did show off some fantastic footage of Uncharted 3 and promised that Playstation Move would receive yet more games (yawn).

The same kind of promises were promised with Microsoft’s Kinect but in this  case there were a couple of hardcore titles mentioned and showed off that might actually prove to be half decent!

I didn’t get to see anything of this as it happened, but I noticed on Twitter everybody was going mad about the Wii U. Is it that good?

The E3 expo was not that successfull this year, as there were not many newbies on the market, except for the WiiU that was practically the hero of the exposition and the centre of attention. Not even Sony PS Vita didn’t come close to it. But, still it’s a lot of time to be waited until they are released. The E3 just gave us a warm-up for them.
