There’s nothing more annoying than someone who’s negative all the time. On your Facebook fan page, this could translate into you talking smack about fellow professionals. By comparing yourself and judging yourself better than everybody else, you don’t prove anything to your fans – well, except that you like to point out what other people’s weaknesses are.
If someone in your peer group is giving your profession a bad name, however, speak up. Nevertheless, be civil and objective. Don’t blindly insult people. Give your reasons – and they’d better be good, educated ones.
Your fans are the ones who help you get to the top. What better way to drive them out of your life than by ignoring them?
You don’t need to respond individually to all questions and comments. You can get the general theme of what people are asking and saying, and then post a status message or reply to a comment. Limit your replies to a few words, and don’t forget to thank your fans for communicating with you!
A common illness running rampant through a lot of Facebook fan pages is cursing, insulting, and mockery. Don’t turn your fan page into a cyber-bullying battlefield. If fans start talking smack to each other, ask them to take their quarrel elsewhere. If they still don’t quit, ban them.
If “fans” insult you, don’t insult them back. Ignore them, and thank fans who stand up to defend you. When the insulting turns threatening, that’s when you take action and ban fans.
Allow fans to disagree with your views. Be careful about getting into arguments with them!
Set an example of positivity and goodness on your Facebook page. Even when war erupts on other pages, you’ll want your fan page to be a sanctuary that fans – and you – will love.
